Masters of Science in "Mathematics for Applications" with distinction.

I studied modules in Cryptography, Graph theory, Combinatorics, Complexity Theory and Network Algorithms. My dissertation was about Elliptic Curve Factorization.

Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with First Class Honours.

I studied modules in both pure and applied mathematics. During the summer vacation of my second year I wrote an essay entitled "The Data Encryption Standard and Differential Cryptanalysis". I was awarded a share of the "Driver" prize for my essay.

MMR is a Medical Market Research Company and during my time there I worked on many different studies for various pharmaceutical companies. The aim of these studies was to identify the top international and national physicians in a particular medical area and to determine which of these physicians would potentially be interested in participating in clinical trials, discussions and advisory board work. These projects involved contacting top authors around the world and asking them to nominate the physicians they believe to be most influential in the particular medical field. This information was used to identify the top experts in this field and a report was produced for the client listing these leading physicians along with the articles they have written and their full contact details.

Between 18-06-01 and 14-09-01
Working in the Security team I researched the lattice based cryptosystem NTRU. I compared NTRU with other well known public key cryptosystems such as RSA and ECC. I also studied the technique of lattice reduction and how it can be used to attack NTRU. I wrote a program in C to attack NTRU with lattice reduction and at the end of my work placement I wrote a report and gave a presentation.


Between 10-07-00 and 15-09-00
I researched the technique of differential cryptanalysis and applied this technique to the LOKI encryption algorithm. This involved writing a program in C to perform differential cryptanalysis on LOKI. At the end of my work placement I wrote a report and gave a presentation to the Security team.

I play the flute, piccolo and piano and have Grade VIII Flute and Grade VII piano. I currently play in the Woking Wind Orchestra.

I enjoy swimming, rock climbing, cycling and walking.
