My research focusses on the impact of marine low cloud and fog on the global energy budget. These clouds have a strong net cooling effect on theplanet relative to clear-sky conditions, therefore understanding the processes which govern them is vital for acurate projections of future climate. We use long-term satellite data records to try to understand the factors which can contribute to variability in cloud cover, and the impact these variations can have on the global radiation budget. I graduated in Chemistry from Oxford in 2006, and started my PhD in Reading in 2008 after a short period working in the oil industry.
