Atmospheric Science

Our research involves exploiting new observational datasets and combining with numerical models of the atmosphere to improve our understanding of the global energy and water cycles of our planet and their role in weather forecasts and climate change. The work is organised into several projects, described briefly below, which contribute to four research foci:

  • Clouds, aerosol and the Earth‘s Radiation Budget
  • Tropical and extratropical weather systems
  • Variability and trends in the global water cycle
  • Evaluation of weather and climate prediction models

Projects

Please use the navigation at the left of the screen to read about the current work of the ESSC Atmopsheric Science Research Group. Through these projects, we contribute to the Climate and the High Impact Weather themes of the National Centre for Earth Observation, helping us to better monitor, understand and predict global environmental changes.
